Learning Log for Week of February 8th - 12th
My favorite thing this week was learning was going to the Norman Rockwell Art Exhibit.
It was neat seeing all the different drawings
Homeroom:
This week for homeroom I worked on khan academy. I worked on my math mission. I like doing the math online, it's different than my regular math where we have to do worksheets.
Math:
This week in Math I finished my Lesson #11. I learned about common factors and finding the greatest common factor. You find all the factors of a product and the greatest number is the one that you use for your denominator so that can compare or combine. My favorite quote is if you want to compare of combine you must be the same kind.
English/Language Arts:
In Leadership Academy I am almost finished with my Voyage of the Dawn Treader. One of my assignments was to make hard tack biscuits that were commonly used on long voyages. They weren't that good to eat, but really fun to make. As a family we are reading Little House in the Big Woods we read the chapters were Laura slapped Mary when Mary said something unkind and then we read about cousin Charley getting stung by a bunch of bees. We talked about obedience and how things would have been different if Laura and Charley had obeyed. We then talked about what obedience means to use and how we can be more obedient. I said I want to work on being more respectful.
Science:
This week in science we are still working on vertebrates and we starting talking about birds. We did a bird venn diagram and talked about how birds are like us, unique, and different. We talked about the different features of birds. We watched videos on different birds, my favorite was the Lyre Bird that will mimic different sounds in the forest to impress the females.
History/Geography:
This week we starting learning about political geography. We learned about Matthew Maury and how he wrote a lot about political geography that we still use. We learned that political geography means a study of things that are man made, the people, the way they worship God, food, clothing, entertainment, the way they are ruled, and their resources. I like political geography because I like learning about different cultures.
Tech:
The Norman Rockwell exhibit was really cool to see because Mr. Rockwell used photography in his paintings. He would take a picture of something and then he would paint. My favorite one was called "The Day in the Life of a girl." I liked it because it showed a lot of personality in his art and it showed his unique style of art.
Choir:
This week we learned the Muppet medley and the America medley. There are lot of different songs from the different movies for our spring show. The songs we are doing are "Love is an Open Door," "When I grow Up," "Home," and "The 60's medley." My favorite song is "When I grow up."
Dance:
We have been working on our recital dance. We ended up changing our music and a lot of choreography. We changed to the song "Strong," from the 2015 movie "Cinderella." I like it because I am in the center of the dance but is also challenging me because if I mess up then everyone follows me, so I have to do my best without mistakes.
